Rams Showcase LIVE

Sheriff Joe Bags makes a return to the video format. Yes it was a quick break, but what if that was the plan all along?? Neither of us can really know the answer to that question because I also had no idea what I was wanting to move forward with as far as the next generation of Rams Showcase.

Alas, here we are. A somewhat odd return to the video space that includes a return to YouTube. I’m still not exactly thrilled with the platform and will likely carry trust issues with me for a short while, but I still have not received an explanation of why my channel was demonetized.

That’s not exactly what we are here to discuss and I try not to dwell on things like that, so I turn my attention to the future and what will now be the 3rd? 4th? 5th? different era for Rams Showcase. I don’t remember how many changes this podcast has been through, but I like to think that it’s an ever-evolving mechanism that adjusts with both my life and the Rams themselves.

Before I hop into what will likely turn into some kind of rambling of thoughts, I want to start with a block of information about what is going on.

WHO:

Sheriff Joe Bags & Rams fans

WHAT:

Rams Showcase will be having a live stream every Monday on YouTube and Facebook hosted by Sheriff Joe Bags. This should continue throughout the season with schedule changes to account for things like week 3 when the Rams play on MNF. This will be a show for Sheriff Joe Bags to interact both in the chat and by bringing you into the stream.

WHEN:

Every friggin Monday, baby!! That’s right. Beginning on June 19, 2023 we will begin the Monday live stream events. Times still need to be worked out and will almost certainly fluctuate as life events occur, but plan for a stream every Monday. Times will be posted on Rams Showcase social media pages with as much notice as possible.

WHERE:

Streaming LIVE on YouTube.com/RamsShowcase and Facebook.com/RamsShowcase

WHY:

Talking LA Rams football is the pinnacle of conversation for me and without any streams, I feel like I’m just talking at you instead of with you.

Now that the basics are out of the way, I’d like to just take some time to dump some of the brain onto my keyboard.

The entire YouTube deal has been quite the headache and I wish I had any real answers as to what the heck happened. I may not be getting that answer so I think it’s best to just accept that they found something I did to be inappropriate so they removed my ability to make money there. So be it.

The Rams Showcase podcast has always been consumed largely in an audio only setting so while the numbers that I see haven’t really changed outside of just the slower release schedule this offseason, I still enjoy creating video content and interacting with the YouTube community. I’d say the community of the Rams fan base on YouTube is what I miss the most. That was really why this decision was made. Instead of me coming up with all my concepts and ideas and waiting for you to watch it and respond in the comments, I wanted to just have those conversations in real time.

My vision for this stream is pretty simple. I want to have conversations with Rams fans from any level of fandom. If you want to hop on the stream and break down the game tape of how Cooper Kupp’s route was the reason Van Jefferson was open and Ben Skowronek made a crazy block to spring a touchdown or you just want to ask me basic questions like how did I become a Rams fan, I want all of the conversation.

Taking a step back from not only recording the show for video, but also decreasing the release schedule was maybe a bit extreme. I’ve had this show for a while now and it’s been such a big part of my life that it was weird to not just regularly and weekly have Rams Showcase stuff to do. I quickly noticed my massive increase in free time but that led me into realizing how lame a lot of things are. I’ve missed just looking stuff up on the Rams and trying to find trends with stuff. Which to some people might be lame, but not to this guy. I’ve made lifelong friends because of my fandom of this team. I’d say that’s as good a reason as any to just dive in and keep enjoying it.

I haven’t really decided what the show will look like when the season begins. I’m not sure if Rams Showcase the podcast will have any video aspects. It will certainly be the regular podcast in audio form, but I have recently discovered that with the more attention to detail on my show I crave, the more time it takes to put together. As a full time employee who also has other life obligations, it’s really difficult to power through the NFL season with those late editing nights and early mornings to make sure each aspect of this puppy is running.

Being busy in the midst of a Super Bowl run is quite fun though. I'm so glad I got to cover this team during such an awesome stretch.

I’m excited to hang out again and get back to the conversations that I’ve missed so much.
